Gus
is a 6 month old lanky bundle of joy that was rescued from
euthanasia and starvation. He is a handsome pitbull terrier mix
that is going to grow into quite a looker. He was pulled from a
pound only hours before he was to be euthanized. He had just run
out of time and stopped eating because he gave up hope. And
frankly, I didn't have much hope that he would live either. But when we
took him home and bathed him, he slowly began to regain hope and he
started to eat. The first day home he weighed 33 pounds (20 pounds
underweight). Gus was too weak to walk and had to be carried
outside to go potty. He had pressure sores all over his body
because there was no fat to cushion the bones from the hard cement.
All of his ribs, his backbone, and hip bones were visible (the before is
3 days after we brought him home). Well, now he is an active, loving, grateful puppy that weighs 50 pounds. What a little miracle! He has not grown into his big feet yet so we anticipate that he is going to be large. His size depends on how much his growth was stunted from lack of nutrition. Gus has had all shots, been neutered, dewormed, and is heartworm negative. He LOVES being in the house with the family. He is great with children, although, he is a bit clumsy at times and will accidently knock over a little tyke. He loves the foster dogs (3 labs) and is very interested in the cats (has not shown aggression toward them). He is slightly food aggressive with other dogs but not with adults or children. That fault I can not blame him for because life has not been easy thus far. He will quickly overcome that issue and then be the perfect dog. He loves to go on walks and play at the park. He never goes far from us even when playing with the other dogs. He trusts us and loves us and he is now ready for his forever home. Are you the family that will give this fabulous dog the life and all the doggie treats that he deserves? Gus' adoption fee is $150 to offset vet bills and help other abandoned animals. Contact: Lisa Sokoll (205)910-6336 rasokoll@aol.com p.s. Gus was previously listed as a Great Dane mix. Two vets told me that he looked like a Dane, but after meeting a Great Dane in person I realized that my little Gus is NOT a Dane. He is just a skinny, malnurished pittbull. Little Gus is wonderful regardless of whether he is Dane or Pitt! |
